WE ARE LACES
A growing sisterhood of football clubs in the UK run for the community, by the community.
HACKNEY
Hackney Laces was set up in 2011 by Katee Hui, after being approached by a 14 year old in her local park who had nowhere to play. It has since supported over 200 girls in East London on and off the pitch. Weekly training sessions are open to women of all ages, with the majority of players falling between 14 and 18. They also have a women’s 5-aside team which play in the Super 5 League.
SOUTH LONDON
South London Laces started life as a turn up and play futsal session run in Battersea by co-founders Em and Beth. Now it’s home to over 150 women across Wandsworth and Lambeth playing both recreationally and in Division 1 of the Greater London Women’s Football League.
MANCHESTER
Manchester Laces is the newest member of the Laces family, and our first site outside of London. It was set up by ex-South London Laces Helen in March 2021 as the UK was coming out of lockdown. As the first ever inclusive club for women and non-binary in Manchester, MCR Laces prides itself on being a safe and open space for everyone. They have sessions available for all levels of ability and play in the Greater Manchester Women’s League.
